It was awesome. One of the best vacations I’ve ever been on. The pics can be seen here.

Apples part 2
Oct 19
Ok, the rest of apple bread is sitting here on my desk and the smell is killing me. Thank goodness break’s in a half hour.

Apples, apples, apples
Oct 19
I made applesauce and apple bread last night. Yum, yum, yum. The apple bread recipe was found here and it’s to die for. I put my version here. Up the apples a bit and put in 3 tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 a tsp of nutmeg. I skipped the nuts. Really moist and yummy and delicious, particularly right out of the oven.
And all made from genuine Prudence Island apples, which made it even better in my world.

New scooter
Oct 15
I admit I feel like I just said that but I can’t keep it running and it’s just not fast enough.
Behold the beauty of the Italian scooter-ness!

It’s an 2006 Aprila Scarabeo 250. For them’s who need specs, see here. The company’s been around since WWII, so we’ve got some history here. I got it a year old with 1000 miles on it. It’s in beautiful condition and even more fun than the Vento ’cause I can actually drive with the traffic. The gas mileage does not make me unhappy either I have to say. And I confess that I love the styling a lot more than the Vento’s.
Ok, so we won for having the best team name and not for being the best geocachers but we won really nice umbrellas with the company logo on them. Kind of ironic for today wasn’t it?
A word of explanation is that Corporate R&D had its corporate outing today. First we had a geocaching competition and then we were to go to Georges Island, eat free lunch, check out the fort, play Frisbee etc. What do we get instead? The entire last 5 weeks of nonexistent rain in one day. It started out ok but it was well past soggy by the end. Way fun though. I vote for more geocaching in the future. Teams were 5 people. We covered some serious ground today – CC Park by the Long Wharf Marriot, to Milk St and Causeway, over Beacon Hill, down to the river, to the Science Museum, through the North End, and back to CC Park. I’m tired now.
But I have a new umbrella.
Essential Summer
Aug 22
This past weekend I went to the Firemen’s Fair. This is the social event of the PI summer season. If I am anywhere near RI, I go to this. One can always pick up a few used books, who knows what on the Junk Table, and just maybe win something from the Good Table or Liquor Basket raffles. I never win. But I buy $30 of tickets and consider it a good cause. But who’d a thunk? Mom and I actually won the 2 things I wanted most on the whole table! Click here for the rest of the pics.

Two down, four to go
Jul 13
It’s really fun rereading Harry Potter and if all the books were the length of the first three, I would definitely make it by the 29th. Well, I ought to make good progress tomorrow while waiting for the Verizon FIOS guy.
