I made applesauce and apple bread last night. Yum, yum, yum. The apple bread recipe was found here and it’s to die for. I put my version here. Up the apples a bit and put in 3 tsp of cinnamon and 1/2 a tsp of nutmeg. I skipped the nuts. Really moist and yummy and delicious, particularly right out of the oven.
And all made from genuine Prudence Island apples, which made it even better in my world.

One of the things even as a child I noticed, however, in certain areas of Downtown Detroit, is that no true Renaissance will ever begin there until the people themselves who occupy those homes start taking some pride in those old, but well built homes, plant some grass in the front yard, and clean up the ubiquitous broken glass that haunts these downtown neighborhoods that their kids play in. This is true on the South Side of Chicago as well, areas of Philadelphia and Im sure in Boston and other major US cities. The early sight of blood when children fall on such glass and debris cant help but harden the kids to the sight of blood, provide a marked tendency to make the kids a bit callous to the sight of blood and help lead by inference to a tendency to accept violence in their enviroment more easily.
