Wow, it’s been ages since I posted. I fully attribute it to iPhone-itis. Apparently, my brain can only manage so much personal technology. Since I’ve been totally obsessed with my iPhone 3G, there’s been nothing left for the blog. But all of a sudden I have things to say and the obsession is tapering to some degree. So back to our regular erratic programming.

I’m a Grad Student Again
Aug 12
It’s official. I’m now a non-degree grad student at Penn State. I hope this time to be a grad student for longer than a single class! I think that it’s much more likely because Penn State has a distance education program in Acoustics. I can get a Master of Engineering in Acoustics while staying right here in Massachusetts. That’s very exciting because I had pretty much given up on the idea of being able to do grad work in acoustics. There just aren’t that many programs and there’s only one local one (at BU). And that one is full-time only, which is not an option for me. So this is great but intimidating all at the same time. Better start brushing up on my differential equations…
CERN LHC Rap
Aug 11
This brings back such memories of the Hadronic Festical and the Les Horrible Cernettes. This video is a rap about the new LHC. Warning: don’t watch unless you find science jokes funny.
Cat Miracle
Aug 9
Usually when you buy your cat a toy or a scratching thing, they play with the package or ignore it completely. At least that’s the approach the Zoe Cat normally goes for. But I saw this very cool scratcher on Modern Cat the other day and resolved to think about getting one. When I saw it at Target this afternoon, I thought I’d give it a go with no great hope of Zoe Cat usage.
She loves it. I’m shocked. I actually took the tags off because she immediately started attacking the little feather toy attached to it. That feather thing is not going to last long at the rate it’s being attacked. And it looks cool. Yay. Cat and owner happiness.

This is the video I took ziplining on Maui this summer. It’s the last cable of 8 on Skyline EcoAdventures Ka’anapali site. If I remember correctly, this cable is about 1200 feet long.
A Lovely Party
Jul 29
Saturday afternoon I attended a lovely birthday party for JD in Berlin. The weather was perfect, the food fabulous (Firefly’s! Yum!), and the small children adorable. Here’s all the pictures and here’s my favorite from the day. Isn’t L just so freaking cute in my hat? If anyone wants full rez pics, just email me and let me know which ones.
While in Hawaii, I had some fabulous spicy radish kimchee. I believe that I have found some recipes that are the version I had. What I need to cut the radish into the right size seems to be a mandolin slicer. Does anyone have one that slices like the picture below that they love or hate? Where did you get it? How much did you spend?

Happy Friday
Jul 18
I know this is nothing new but it’s new to me and it made me smile. I hope it does the same for you. Happy Friday!
And I love it more than when I started but where did the time go? Here’s to a great company and fabulous coworkers! I hope to have many more aniversaries with you.
