Why I waited so many years to start yoga class again, I don’t know. It’s right at work and ever so much fun. I’m so glad that yoga night and rehearsal night are not the same anymore. That juxtaposition was what stopped yoga before. Go to yoga or eat dinner before a 7:30-10 PM rehearsal. Dinner won.

I also just tried Yoga Paws for the first time. I’ve wanted them for awhile and they had a great discount on some slightly non-standard ones. This is the first time I’ve been able to do Downward Dog with my hands on the mat and not slide off. I didn’t like the feet part though. They adhered to the mat a little too well and tended to roll up when I tried to slide my foot. But the hand half is great. We’ll see if my arms are as sore tomorrow as they were last week after class.

When I get to 15, I get another sticker. It’s all about the stickers. Even better, I’m only 4.8 lbs aways from my 10% goal (losing 10% of my body weight). The farther I get, interestingly enough, the more determined I get and to some degree, the easier it gets. You get used to eating better, getting more exercise (my sedentary computer job has been a killer on that front), and the conscious choices become more and more unconscious. Check out my fabulous graph (the 2 stars indicate 5 lb milestones)!

1) Take extra melamine shelf.
2) Put on arms of treadmill.
3) Put laptop on shelf.
4) Set treadmill to 1.2 mph (much faster and I’m sure I could still type – more experimenting to be done).
5) Walk and use laptop at same time.

I’m amused and I’ve actually hit 7000 steps today on the pedometer and that’s a new record.
