So I went to the dentist this morning for the normal cleaning. And I’m happy to report that I still have no cavities. I miss the days when that netted one a gold star and a toy from the toy chest. Actually, you always got the toy for being good. I always picked Superballs, which promptly bounced over the house’s roof and got lost in that place to where all Superballs go. I did get a free toothbrush today though.

Do I get a gold star?

Just had my first ever optometrist eye exam. They have a lot of cool toys. You’ll all be relieved to know that my eyes are just fine and still don’t need glasses. The best part has been the dilating eye drops. It’s been about 2 hours know and they’re almost worn off. If I had thought about this properly, I would have scheduled the exam for the end of the day. You just can’t read computer monitor until they wear off. But it’s amazing how much you can “read” when you know more or less what it’s supposed to be talking about.
This webpage is absolutely fascinating. It shows how much 200 calories is of a bunch of different foods. It’s a huge amount of celery but only 6 peanut butter crackers. Some of the amounts are quite surprising (at least to me). I suspect this disconnect between the perception of calorie amount per food serving and what it really is, is one of the many reasons America is so hefty.
