Lovely Saturday

What beautiful weather today! And I got so much done!

  1. I rode my scooter to the Weight Watchers meeting.
  2. I’m 16.2 lbs down as of this morning’s said Weight Watchers meeting.
  3. Then I went to Tom’s and we checked tire pressure on my scooter and his Goldwing, so we could install these spiffy LED tire pressure indicator caps I bought for us.
  4. We then cleaned out and went through all the garden stuff in the shed. I had left a bunch of stuff from when I rented from Tom.
  5. I saw Kim, Joe, and Lula when they stopped by after playing mini-golf at Trombetta’s. And Joe got the whole tour of Tom’s house (by Joe’s request).
  6. After Tom and I had lunch at Panera, we checked out the new Planet Fitness gym on Rt 20 and I signed up. How can you go wrong for $10/month and no contract? They open in a few weeks, so it will be an spiffy and new and clean. That should help me reach my weight goal.
  7. Then we went to the dump with all the old garden stuff, Tom’s recycling, and my recycling (swung by my apartment to get it).
  8. Then I got to ride home on my scooter. Can you tell that I’m excited to be riding the scooter?
  9. I put up the 2nd half of my bamboo fencing on the balcony, put out my mosaic table, and decided what to remove from the balcony. Now it’s less cluttered and the Zoe cat can go out there now without her leash. No more leaping off the edge into pine shrubs!
  10. Plus random apartment chores!

All in all, it was a very satisfying day.

A good day

1) I’ve reached 10.4 lbs of weight loss through Weight Watchers over the past 9 weeks. Down one belt loop and almost a pant size.

2) I finally sold my ‘83 Yamaha Virago motorcycle, getting me down to only one extra powered two wheeled vehicle. (Anyone local want a semi-functioning 50 cc Vento Triton scooter? Really cheap?)

3) I found a great top at Anthropologie on sale for 50% off.

4)  I got my expanding battery (I’ll post pics soon of it) for my MacBook Pro replaced for free at the Natick Apple store. Yes, this is the same type of expanding Li-Ion battery that causes all those interesting random fires (in plane baggage holds, for example). No fires here however. Just a really interesting looking popping apart battery.

5) I got to hang out with my mom.

6) It was sunny and not raining or snowing.

All in all, that adds up to a darn good day in my book. :)

Back after long silence

I have returned. Not that I really went anywhere but there was just too much going on for me to feel inclined to post. But I’m ready again to talk of utterly random things that really approximately 5 people will ever read. :)

My sister’s here!

She’s visiting for the weekend and is on her way from Logan on the Braintree Logan Express. Yay!

I miss my Gram

It’s been a month (02/12/2007) since Grammie passed away. I miss her dreadfully. If you look in the archives here, you’ll see a big gap in February and that’s why. So here’s her obituary (less a few last names and locations). I take full credit for the macaroni and cheese. :)

CUMBERLAND, RI – Mary Margaret (“Peggy”) S., 86, of Old Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland died Monday evening, February 12, 2007 in her home. She was the loving wife of 64 years to David W. S. Born October 7, 1920 in Milton, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Thomas B. and Margaret (Paterson) Syme. Mrs. S grew up in the Wollaston section of Quincy, MA and was a 1938 graduate of Quincy High School. In 1942 she received a BA degree in English from Radcliffe College. During World War II, she worked in the personnel office of the Radar Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She and her husband were residents of Prudence Island, RI for nearly fifty years before moving to Cumberland six years ago.

Throughout her life, she enjoyed time spent playing bridge, swimming, and sitting in her porch rocking chair on Prudence Island. She was an avid sports fan, particularly of college basketball and the Red Sox. She was very accomplished at cooking, especially handpicked blueberry pie, quahog chowder, and the best macaroni and cheese in the world.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Bonnie H.; a son, Woody S.; and four grandchildren: Sarah H., Jennifer S., Katherine H. and Jacqueline S. A memorial celebration will be held this summer on Prudence Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prudence Conservancy, PO BOX 115, Prudence Island, RI 02872.
